Cosmetic Surgery Abroad - Holiday Or Surgery?

Although many people opt for having cosmetic surgery abroad because of cheaper prices others consider the exotic holiday aspect to be important to their decision. What better way to recuperate than to lie on a sun drenched beach somewhere far from home. But does the dream match reality?

Whatever surgery you have you're bound to feel swollen and bruised for a few days. Different people have different tolerances to pain. Five days after a breast enhancement you may feel well enough to wander down to the hotel pool but someone else may still be in enough discomfort to want to spend a few days more confined to their room.

If you've gone for an all inclusive package or chosen to stay in a hotel recommended by the company who've arranged your surgery then you're likely to find others looking slightly bruised and swollen resting by the pool so you won't feel an oddity. This is particularly helpful if you are likely to feel self-conscious about the way you look.

It has to be said that surgery and sunbathing do not mix. If you have surgery on your face the swelling will probably have gone down enough for you to venture out after 5-7 days but you'll need to use a high factor sunblock. So if you were hoping to impress your friends with a glorious tan when you return home you make need to fake it.

If you want to go shopping for souvenirs for friends and family try and do it before you have your surgery. You won't be tired or aching and the experience will be far more enjoyable than when you're post-op. After some types of cosmetic surgery you should avoid lifting anything heavy for a few weeks so don't get over-enthusiastic about buying things as they'll greatly increase the weight of your luggage. In any case you came to save money not to spend it.

Even when you start feeling better it's important not to over do things. Taking a guided bus tour will reduce the amount of walking you need to do. If you want to feel more independent get a taxi to take you to places you want to see. Many taxi drivers will be happy to spend all day taking you from place to place and will throw in a little local knowledge for free. Taking things slowly will greatly increase you general recovery so that you'll actually feel like you've been on a vacation when you get back home.
